Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar lavished rich praises on Mohammed Siraj saying that the pacer has achieved immense success in the last few months since his debut Test series against Australia.
Mohammed Siraj returned as India’s leading wicket-taker from the historic Test series Down Under. He picked 13 wickets in 3 games, including a 5-wicket haul in Brisbane where he spearheaded the bowling attack in the absence of all the first-choice pacers.
He was impressive in the home Tests versus England – Siraj was even picked ahead of Umesh Yadav in the fourth Test – and continued his rich vein in the IPL 2021 as well.
“Mohammed Siraj has gone from strength to strength after the tour of Australia and he was relentlessly at the batsmen even in the final over just as how he was at the first over of the innings,” Sunil Gavaskar wrote in a column for SportStar.
Sunil Gavaskar marvels over Devdutt Padikkal, AB de Villiers

The 71-year-old further waxed lyrical about the performances of Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers – two batters on different ends of their careers but joining hand to help RCB to the third position in the points table before the tournament was suspended.
Padikkal scored 195 runs at a strike rate of 152.34 in 6 games including a brilliant hundred versus Rajasthan Royals; de Villiers scored 207 runs, striking at 164.28, and saving the side time and again.
“The Bangalore team had a marvellous run thanks in the main to its batting dominated by the peerless AB de Villiers. Young Devdutt Padikkal got a terrific century and looks a great prospect for the future in all forms of the game,” Sunil Gavaskar stated.
