Mohammed Siraj lands in New Zealand to play for India A
Mohammed Siraj arrived in Christchurch much before other senior Indian players to get familiar with New Zealand’s playing conditions before the upcoming five-match ODI series and two-match Test series against New Zealand. The first ODI is scheduled for November 4 in Auckland.
As reported by Revsportz journalist Rohit Juglan, Mohammed Siraj landed in Christchurch on Wednesday, October 27, and the fast bowler is all set to play in the second unofficial Test match between India A and New Zealand A at Hagley Oval before joining India's ODI squad in Hamilton.
Siraj has reportedly confirmed that he is feeling completely fit and ready to get back into action. The journalist revealed that the Indian fast bowler spoke about his flight and the local weather during a brief conversation in Christchurch.
His participation in the four-day game at Hagley Oval will give Siraj an opportunity to build rhythm and get valuable match practice in New Zealand conditions.
Auqib Nabi set to replace Prasidh Krishna in India's ODI squad
Prasidh Krishna's fitness has become a big headache for the Indian selectors and the team management ahead of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. Some media reports suggest that the fast bowler has been ruled out of the ODI series because of a hamstring injury.
It is being said that Prasidh is unlikely to regain match fitness before the first ODI in Auckland on November 4, although the official confirmation has not yet been made by the BCCI.
Amid these concerns, the Revsportz journalist revealed that Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi could be named as Prasidh’s replacement if he fails to become available for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. Nabi is already in New Zealand for the four-day games.
Rohit Sharma to fly directly to Auckland, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant set for India A return
Meanwhile, India's other senior players are expected to join the squad in the coming days in New Zealand. Rohit Sharma is expected to travel directly to Auckland, while there is no update on Virat Kohli's arrival, as the former Indian captain was recently in Mumbai.
Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant are also expected to join the squad soon. Bumrah and Pant are expected to join the India A setup for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A, beginning on November 7 at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.
Bumrah is expected to leave for New Zealand on November 1 after completing his fitness tests at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. He will play the third four-day game to regain his match rhythm. Bumrah has been rested from the T20I series to manage his workload.
Speaking about Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter is recovering at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru after suffering a side strain during the Irani Cup. His participation in the final unofficial Test will depend on medical clearance from the BCCI.
