LSG star pacer Mohsin Khan is likely to be drafted into the Indian team, citing the injury and workload concerns of the other players ahead of their upcoming tour against Afghanistan.

Several pacers have had a stunning run in this season of the IPL. This season has been a special edition, which has comprised several seamers who have set an example. Some of the best-performing pacers include the likes of Anshul Kamboj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Prince Yadav.

India will play against Afghanistan, where the BCCI will host the Asian rivals for a one-off Test and three more one-day international matches. The one-off Test is scheduled to be played from the 6th to the 10th of June, while the ODIs are to be played on the 14th, 17th, and 20th of June.

Indian selectors likely to hand debuts amid 'workload concerns' after a gruelling IPL 2026 campaign

Indian selectors will have to tackle a tough job when they meet at Guwahati to finalise the squad for the upcoming Test and ODI series. They will have to consider the 'workload concerns' after a long IPL season has taken its toll on the Indian seamers.

The likes of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, and Arshdeep Singh have had a long tournament in IPL 2026. All of these players are likely to miss the upcoming series due to excessive stress and several concerns about their fitness that might lead to injuries as well.

So far, no player has asked for a rest. The selectors will have to study the fitness reports, said the source to TOI. However, Jasprit Bumrah is confirmed to be rested.

Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav are likely to make their Indian debut

Lucknow Super Giants pacers Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan have emerged as the strongest contenders after their impressive IPL campaigns. Mohammed Shami has also emerged as one of the likely contenders for the Indian Test and ODI side.

"There will be a discussion on the workload management of Bumrah and Siraj. If they are rested from the ODIs, Prince Yadav and Mohsin Khan could be considered, sources said.

Prince has been LSG's greatest addition to this season of the competition, as he has picked wickets at crucial junctures of the game while also being economical at the same time. Mohsin Khan, on the other hand, has had a good season; however, his appearances have been limited due to his injury concerns.

Anshul Kamboj or Auqib Nabi could be considered for the one-off Test vs Afghanistan

Coming to red-ball cricket, India does not have many choices among seam bowlers. Harshit Rana's and Akashdeep's injuries might be a massive concern for the Indian team. They will hence have to hand some debuts to the Indian stars.

Anshul Kamboj has played a Test match for India on former occasions, and hence, he might be picked after a promising season for the Chennai Super Kings. Mohsin Khan might also be backed for the same role.

Jammu & Kashmir star bowler Auqib Nabi, who had a stunning Ranji Trophy over the past few seasons, might also be considered for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
