Mohsin Naqvi breaks silence on Haris Rauf's fight with a Pakistan fan in the USA

Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has issued a stern warning to the fans regarding last month’s incident in the United States, where a fan misbehaved with Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf when he was with his wife.

According to Geo News, Naqvi revealed that the FIA is actively following the individual responsible for the incident and assured that strict actions would be taken against any future misbehavior with the Pakistan cricket team members.

Naqvi's statement comes from a recent episode during Pakistan's visit to the USA for the recent ICC T20 World Cup 2024. After the Men in Green’s embarrassing exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, Rauf was involved in a heated verbal fight with a Pakistani fan in the USA.

Rauf was walking with his wife on a sidewalk when a fan approached him, seemingly asking for a photograph. Moments later, Rauf can be seen moving to the other side of the sidewalk and engaging in a heated argument with the fan.

The situation escalated quickly, with Rauf and the fan nearly coming to blows before the people around them intervened to separate them. Rauf later provided his side of the story in a social media statement, claiming that the fan had insulted his family, which led to his angry reaction.

Rauf had said in a statement on X: “I decided not to bring this on social media, But now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticize us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions.”

FIA targets culprit, as PCB chairman issues warning

Later, the PCB chairman strongly condemned the appalling incident by saying such actions against the national players are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Naqvi added that people involved in this matter must immediately apologize to Rauf, and if he fails to do so, then they will pursue legal action against the individual responsible.

Now, Naqvi revealed that FIA is behind the fans, who misbehaved with Rauf in the US and said that the fans will face the consequences if case misbehave with the Pakistan Cricket Team.

He also revealed that the review of central contracts is still in progress and the decisions will be taken according to a new formula designed to improve the team's overall performance and fitness after Pakistan’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2024.
