Former Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad launched a brutal attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) led by Mohsin Naqvi. Shehzad slammed the board right after Pakistan’s ODI series defeat against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
Through a video, the former international batter claimed that the players were left with no trust in the board, which is why they chose to leave the country to play for other countries like the United States and the UAE.
Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan in a 3-match ODI series
The grueling, bad patch of the Pakistan cricket team continued even during the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh. Ahead of the series, it seemed that the Shaheen Afridi-led team could easily claim the series. The final output was completely different.
Scoring 290, batting first in the 3rd of the 3-match ODI series, Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 11 runs. Salman Ali Agha’s 106-run knock against 98 deliveries was left in vain. Bangladesh cricket team opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim’s 107-run innings proved decisive to find out the winner of the match as well as the series.
While chasing the challenging target, four Pakistani batters, including Sahibzada Farhan, who played brilliantly in the T20 World Cup 2026, were dismissed before claiming a double-digit score each. Salman Ali Agha proved to be the loan warrior of the team. The pacers of the home team did not allow the opposing team's batters to settle down on the track.
Mohsin Naqvi's PCB went for an overhaul to reshape the ODI team
For Bangladesh, experienced seamer Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets in his 10-over spell, only for an economy rate of 4.90. Nahid Rana and Mustafizur Rahman bagged 2 and 3 wickets each. Pakistan managed to get 279 runs in 50 overs.
PCB included multiple uncapped players for the ODI series, as their T20I team took an early exit from the 2026 T20 World Cup. According to reports, Mohsin Naqvi had a massive influence on the changes in the team. During the World Cup, several reports claimed that Mohsin Naqvi was 'not happy' with the performances of some of the senior cricketers.
Ahmed Shehzad claimed that multiple talented cricketers had already left the country to pursue their careers with different teams, as they had no faith in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Ahmed Shehzad launched a direct attack on the Mohsin Naqvi-led PCB
“The selection committee's sick favoritism mindset is costing Pakistan. Deserving players are leaving for teams like the UAE and USA because real talent is being ignored. They lost all trust and faith in you. They left, because they don’t have trust in you”, the former batter directly said to the Mohsin Naqvi-led cricket board.
He further claimed that the Pakistan National Cricket Team has no unity, and the team is divided into different camps. Instead of improving games, cricketers have initiated a blame game among each other.
“They have turned the Pakistan national cricket team into their personal property. The team is divided, some players inside and some outside, and many players now have too much attitude. Instead of improving themselves, they just keep blaming others. If they really cared about Pakistan cricket, they would have done something meaningful by now,” he further added.
