The controversy surrounding the Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket medal ceremony has been resolved, with Asian Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi set to miss the presentation. According to a report by RevSportz, an alternate delegation will present the medals after the women’s gold medal match.
India Women entered the final after dominant victories over Japan and Bangladesh. They are currently facing Sri Lanka for the gold medal at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin, on September 22. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side recently beat Sri Lanka by 72 runs to win a record-extending eighth Women’s Asia Cup title.
Asian Games 2026: Mohsin Naqvi Not to Present Women’s Cricket Medals
The Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket medal ceremony will take place without Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi.
According to RevSportz, Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) member Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Indian Winter Olympian Shiva Keshavan and International Hockey Federation president Tayyab Ikram will present the medals at Korogi Sports Park.
Naqvi also serves as Pakistan’s interior minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman. His absence from the Asian Games ceremony rules out a repeat of the trophy presentation controversy involving India earlier this month.

India Women’s Asia Cup Trophy Dispute Involving Mohsin Naqvi
India Women decided not to collect the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after their 72-run victory over Sri Lanka in Dubai on September 13.
Naqvi presented the runners-up medals and prize cheque to Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu. However, the Indian team did not receive the championship trophy during the ceremony.
India dominated the final after posting 183/5 in 20 overs. Shafali Verma top-scored with 68, while Smriti Mandhana added 59. Sri Lanka were then bowled out for 111. Shree Charani claimed 4/20, while Deepti Sharma took 3/19 to complete a convincing 72-run victory.
A similar situation occurred after the men’s Asia Cup final in 2025. Suryakumar Yadav’s India defeated Pakistan in Dubai but did not accept the winner’s trophy from Naqvi.
The two incidents have made the medal and trophy presentation at the Asian Games 2026 women’s cricket final a talking point ahead of India’s clash with Sri Lanka.
Pakistan Women Secure Asian Games 2026 Bronze Medal
Pakistan Women secured the Asian Games 2026 bronze medal after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place playoff at Korogi Sports Park. Skipper Fatima Sana scored an unbeaten 45 off 30 balls, including three fours and three sixes, as Pakistan posted 145/8.
Gull Feroza added 31 off 23 balls, while Aliya Riaz scored 25 off 22 deliveries. Shawaal Zulfiqar also contributed 17. Ritu Moni, Shorna Akter, and Nahida Akter took two wickets each for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh could manage only 114/7 in reply. Shamim Akhter fought until the end with an unbeaten 46 off 45 balls, while Nigar Sultana scored 25 off 30. However, Pakistan's bowlers kept control during the final stages of the chase.
Umm-e-Hani was Pakistan's standout bowler, finishing with 3/10 from four overs. Tasmia Rubab, Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu, and Ayesha Zafar took one wicket each as Pakistan completed the defence and secured the bronze medal.
