The Asian Games 2026 has been in ending phase, as the cricket event will end of Saturday, as the final will take place between India and Pakistan for the Gold Medal match. This is going to be a blockbuster clash. Ahead of the match, there has been a crucial update as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi will not be in attendance.
The India National Cricket Team completely outplayed their opponents, Sri Lanka, in the semi-final. On a wicket that was turning square with cracks over it, India posted a above par total of 169/7 in their 20 overs, as Sri Lanka had no answers to the Indian bowlers as they were being bowled out for the score of 45 runs.
Mohsin Naqvi declined to attend Asian Games
As per reports from Revsportz, it is revealed that the current Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi will not be in attendance at the Asian Games men's cricket final between India and Pakistan. This is a huge relief as there will not be any controversy during the post-match presentation ceremony like the Asia Cups. BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, is expected to attend the game.
The Asian Games organisers and host Japan are well aware of the tensions between India and Mohsin Naqvi, as twice, the Men's and the women's teams have refused to take the Asia Cup trophy from the PCB chief after beating Pakistan and Sri Lanka in two different categories of the game.
There have been diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan, which have caused the refusal to take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. It dates back to the Asia Cup 2025, when Suryakumar Yadav and his boy showcased solidarity towards the victim of the Pahalgam terror attack, as he refused to do the customary handshakes during the toss and post-match, and later also refused to take the trophy from Naqvi.
