Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has said he would not resign as he faces heat after Pakistan's humiliating defeat against Bangladesh in the first Test of the ongoing two-match series.

It was Pakistan's first-ever defeat against Bangladesh in the longest format of the game. Before the loss, Pakistan had won 12 of the 13 Tests they had played against the Bangla Tigers while one match had ended in a draw.

However, past form and reputation went for a toss as Bangladesh stunned their fancied hosts to register the historic win.

The home side did well in the first innings as they declared their innings on 448/6. In reply, Bangladesh finished their innings on 565 runs to take a 117-run lead.

With Bangladesh's innings ending late on day four, the match looked destined to end in a draw. However, Pakistan suffered an inexplicable collapse on the last day to concede the game.

Starting the day on 23 for 1, Pakistan were all out for just 146 runs. Set a target of just 30 runs, Bangladesh chased it down in 6.3 overs without losing any wickets. The latest result has put more pressure on the Pakistan team as well as the PCB.

Mohsin Naqvi is himself under pressure after the defeat against Bangladesh. However, the PCB supremo has made it clear that he would not resign from his post and would continue working hard to improve the situation. He admitted that although people want him to step down, he won't.

"People want me to resign. I will not resign on the wish of anyone. I will go after bringing improvement in Pakistan Cricket," said Mohsin Naqvi.

Speaking further, Mohsin Naqvi also said that he could not change the situation overnight as he highlighted Pakistan's struggle in Tests at home. Pakistan have not won a Test series at home since the 2-0 win over South Africa in 2021. In 2022, they lost the home series against Australia and England.

"I don't have a magic wand to start producing results. Our Test performance at home has been the same for 3 years. When did we win the last Test?" said Mohsin Naqvi.

Well, it won't be entirely wrong to say that Naqvi is also running out of time to improve the situation.

Things have not changed much since he took charge of the PCB in February this year. After his appointment, Pakistan drew the home T20I series against a second-string New Zealand team.

Later in May, they won the T20I series in Ireland but lost a game against them. It was followed by the series loss in England before they suffered a humiliating exit from the T20 World Cup.
