IPL 2010 was the third edition of the Indian Premier League. Like the previous two seasons, the tournament also observed the participation of 8 teams. They were Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab. Deccan Chargers were the defending champions of the tournament.

Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore bagged the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spot respectively in the points table after the group stage. As a result, these 4 teams qualified for playoffs. MI defeated RCB in semi-final 1 while Chennai Super Kings outplayed Deccan Chargers in semi-final 2. In CSK vs MI final, Chennai Super Kings emerged as the winners and bagged their first title in IPL 2010. A total of 60 matches were played among 8 teams and 18,863 runs smashed during the season. 8. Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders scored the least runs in IPL 2010 with 2144 runs. KKR were led by Sourav Ganguly. The franchise finished on the 6th spot in the points table after the group stage and did not qualify for playoffs. The Sourav Ganguly-led side played 14 matches in the tournament, winning 7 and losing 7. Sourav Ganguly emerged as the highest run-scorer of the team with 493 runs in 14 innings. He was the 4th highest run-getter in the tournament.

7. Delhi Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils accounted for 2144 runs in the season, the second-lowest number of runs after KKR. Gautam Gambhir was the captain of the team. The franchise did not qualify for playoffs after finishing on the 5th position in the points table. The team played 14 matches in the season, winning 7 and losing 7.  Virender Sehwag ended as the highest run-getter in the team with 356 runs in 14 games.

6. Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals piled up 2179 runs in IPL 2010. Shane Warne was the skipper of the team in the tournament. The team finished on the 7th spot in the points table and failed to qualify for playoffs. Out of 14 games that the team played in the season, they won 6 and lost 8. Naman Ojha was the highest run-scorer of the team with 377 runs in 14 matches. Yusuf Pathan was the 2nd highest run-getter for RR with 333 runs in 14 matches.

5. Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab smashed 2278 runs in the tournament. The team was led by Kumar Sangakkara. The team finished on the last 8th spot in the points table after the group stage. The Kumar Sangakkara-led side played 14 matches in the season, winning just 4 and losing 10. Mahela Jayawardene was the top run-scorer of the team with 439 runs in 13 innings.

4. Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers scored 2374 runs in IPL 2010. Adam Gilchrist was the captain of the team in the season. The team finished on the 2nd spot after the group stage with 16 points and qualified for playoffs. The team played 16 matches in the tournament, winning 8 and losing 8. Andrew Symonds was the highest run-scorer of the team with 429 runs in 16 matches. Rohit Sharma followed Symonds on the 2nd spot with 404 runs in 16 matches.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore smashed 2401 runs in the season and were the third highest-run scorer in the tournament. Anil Kumble was the skipper of the team. RCB were placed on the 4th spot in the points table after the group stage and booked a berth in the playoffs. They lost to Mumbai Indians in semi-final 1 but then defeated Deccan Chargers in 3rd playoff match to finish as the 2nd runners-up in the tournament. Out of 16 games, RCB won 8 matches and lost 8 in IPL 2010. Jacques Kallis emerged as the highest run-getter for RCB with 572 runs in 16 games.

2. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings were the 2nd highest run-scoring team in the IPL 2010 with 2595 runs. MS Dhoni was the captain of the CSK team in the season. CSK finished on the 3rd position in the points table after the group stage and managed to enter the playoffs. They defeated Deccan Chargers in the semi-final 2 and then defeated Mumbai Indians in the final to lift the trophy. The MS Dhoni and co. played 16 matches in the season, winning 9 games and losing 7. Suresh Raina was the highest run-scorer for the team and 3rd highest overall with 520 runs in 16 matches.

Mumbai Indians scored the most runs in the tournament with 2738 runs. The franchise was led by Sachin Tendulkar in the season. The team topped the points table after the group stage with 20 points and earned a place in the playoffs. The team defeated RCB in the semi-final 1 but lost to Chennai Super Kings in the final by 22 runs and finished as runners-up. The franchise played 16 matches in the season, winning 11 and losing 5. Sachin Tendulkar was the highest run-scorer of the team as well as the tournament with 618 runs in 15 matches.
