Rohit Sharma has all but confirmed his participation in the next edition of the T20 World Cup. The much-awaited marquee event is scheduled to played in June 2024 in the Caribbean and the United States of America.

The way things have panned out in the last one year, it looked inevitable that India would play the next T20 World Cup without Rohit Sharm and Virat Kohli. Neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli has played a T20I for Team India since the semifinal defeat in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The selectors have been trying out youngsters in order to find an apt replacement for the senior duo.

However, recent reports have suggested that the situation has changed after the ODI World Cup. Rohit Sharma is back in contention after his sensational batting performance during the event. More than the runs, the India skipper received praise from all over for his attacking display. In 11 games, he smashed 597 runs at a strike-rate of over 125. He also hit a staggering 31 sixes during the tournament.

Rohit Sharma drops hints on T20 World Cup:

Reports have also suggested that Rohit Sharma will not only play the T20 World Cup next year but is also in line to lead the team. And while only time will tell how things unfold, the right-handed batsman has dropped a huge hint about his participation in the tournament.

On Wednesday (December 13), he finally broke his silence on the heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup final last month. And while thanking the fans for their support throughout the tournament and even after the loss in the final, Rohit Sharma said that he is motivated to return to action and start working for another ‘ultimate prize’.

“People, when they understand what the player must be going through and when they know these kinds of things and not to bring out that frustration, that anger, it means a lot for us, for me definitely it meant a lot because there was no anger, it was just pure love from people that I met and it was wonderful to see that. So it gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize,” he added.
