Sridharan Sriram said at the pre-match press conference on MS Dhoni's future in the IPL, “Not as much as I know. Really don't know what is going to happen.”

However, the former Bangladesh coach said that Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Dhoni have a grip on the team’s issues and future strategy after their failure to reach the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

The assistant bowling coach further noted, “I think the good thing is Fleming and MS, Ruturaj. They've got a clear idea of what went wrong and what needs to be done. So, I think the road ahead is quite clear, which I think is a real positive.”

Sridharan Sriram defends CSK’s middle order amid IPL 2025 horror

Meanwhile, Sriram has defended CSK’s middle order, saying it’s unfair to blame just one area for their dismal performances this season. However, the assistant coach said the team has clarity on what needs to be done moving forward, which is a big positive.

The CSK coach further explained, “It's not only about the middle order; cricket is such a complex game. So, I think it's just not about the middle order; it's just about how we have played the whole year and how the results have gone.

So, it's very unfair to put a finger on any one specific thing. But the good thing is, as I said, we're very clear on the road ahead. So, I think that's a real good positive going forward.”

He signed off by saying, “I think he's [Sai Sudharsan] an amazing player. There's no doubt about it.
