Chennai Super Kings (CSK) keeper-batter MS Dhoni has been in the headlines ever since the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side was eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. They faced a 27-run loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday (18th May) to slip out of the top 4.

Since then there has been only one thing that is surrounding the headlines, which is the retirement of MS Dhoni. There are very high chances that we might have seen the last of the Chennai Super Kings legend in the league as the keeper-batter might soon announce his retirement.

MS Dhoni after the end of the IPL 2023 mentioned that he will be playing one more season in the league, which will be a gift from his side to fans. With him struggling with his fitness this season, there are a lot of speculations that he won't be playing in the next season for the Chennai Super Kings.

However, the latest report in IANS has claimed that MS Dhoni will be traveling to London for the treatment of a muscle injury, which saw him struggling in the IPL 2024. It is learned that the keeper-batter is keen to play but his availability will depend on his treatment.

"Dhoni might head to London for his muscle tear surgery which saw him struggling during the IPL. He is not fully fit but wants to continue to play cricket and he will only decide about his future after treatment which will take him five to six months to recover," a source told IANS.

Recently there was a report in the Times of India that claimed that MS Dhoni will be deciding on his retirement after a couple of months and he hasn't told anyone about his decision as of yet. The source close to the franchise stated:

"Dhoni has not told anybody in CSK that he is quitting. He has told the management that he will wait for a couple of months before taking a final call. He did not feel any discomfort in his running between the wickets and that is a plus. We will wait for Dhoni's communication. He always has the best interests of the team in mind, let's see what happens," he concluded.

MS Dhoni should play one more season - Ambati Rayudu

“MS Dhoni should play one more season. This shouldn’t be his last as he cannot leave like this. He should play next season and win the IPL. He’s a once-in-a-generation player and once-in-a-generation human being."

In the ongoing MS Dhoni looked in great touch with the bat. Although he came to bat down the order, he made sure that he entertained his fans with his brutal power-hitting.
