Not only Dhoni, Bumrah hailed the different qualities of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as well and feels that all of these legends have contributed highly to Indian cricket.

Jasprit Bumrah speaks on MS Dhoni's role in his evolution

While talking to The Indian Express, Jasprit Bumrah opened up about the qualities of legendary Indian players. When asked about MS Dhoni, Bumrah revealed that Dhoni provided him with lots of security which helped him to produce his best game forward despite being a new player in the team.

"When I made the debut, MS (Dhoni) gave me lots of security, I felt secure, he believed in instincts," Bumrah said.

MS Dhoni played his last international match in the ODI World Cup 2019 semi-final against New Zealand. He officially announced his retirement from internationals on August 15, 2020. But Dhoni has been playing the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is seen playing the tournament during the season. He is still not retired from the IPL as is expected to play next year.

Jasprit Bumrah on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

Bumrah also spoke about the qualities of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both Kohli and Rohit have led India for a fair amount of time. Rohit Sharma is still India's Test and ODI captain and is expected to lead India in most of the ICC tournaments in the upcoming years.

The 30-year-old quick said that Kohli is very passionate and full of energy while Rohit understands a player and is always behind them. According to Bumrah, all of these legends have taken Indian cricket forward.

"Virat (Kohli) is energy-driven, passionate, he pushed us in fitness - Rohit (Sharma) had lots of empathy, understands players emotions, what players are going through - everyone has helped Indian cricket go forward," Bumrah stated.

Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retired from T20Is after India's triumphant T20 World Cup 2024 campaign last month. Both the players will be visible in India's upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka starting on July 2.

Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the tour of Sri Lanka to manage his workload. The fast bowler played a key role in India's historic title win in the T20 World Cup 2024. He is likely to make a comeback to the Indian team during the home Test series against Bangladesh.
