MS Dhoni emotionally blackmailed Ravindra Jadeja of IPL retirement for CSK-RR trade
PC: X

MS Dhoni, the legendary CSK player, has been revealed to have moulded Ravindra Jadeja to part ways with his former franchise and move to the Rajasthan Royals. It has been reported that Jadeja decided to leave CSK after having a word with his former captain.

For years, the Chennai Super Kings have been retaining some of their core players who have stayed with the franchise for over a decade or more. Alongside MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja is one such player who has stayed with the Super Kings since his arrival back in 2012.

While most of their teammates and veterans of the game, like Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ambati Rayudu, and Robin Uthappa, have retired from the game, these two remain the last two players from the golden days of CSK's triumph.

MS Dhoni convinced Ravindra Jadeja to part ways with CSK

Ravindra Jadeja was first shown the door to a Team India call-up by the then skipper MS Dhoni. He has played for India as well as CSK under the great leader who handpicked him as a very fine cricketer. Jadeja too has kept his name over his decade-long international career.

The two CSK stars share a very close bond, which was further evident when Dhoni lifted Jadeja after winning the title back in 2023. It was Dhoni's fifth title in the IPL, and Jadeja hit the winning boundary to secure a win for CSK.

As of the latest reports, MS Dhoni informed Jadeja that this would be his last season in the IPL, and he is not likely to play all the games of the season as well. Hence, with Dhoni gone and the team management looking for fresh faces in the team, Jadeja would be the only experienced head left in the team.

MS Dhoni, hence, reportedly advised Jadeja to explore options among other teams, especially when a trade offer for him was already on the cards. Though it might be on Dhoni's suggestion, the move is a well-thought-out decision from the Indian all-rounder.

Ravindra Jadeja lured by Captaincy offer to join Rajasthan Royals

It has also been reported that Ravindra Jadeja is now among the frontrunners for captaincy after he moves into the Rajasthan Royals den. Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal were already in the race for the role, with Jadeja as their new competitor.

Now, journalist Rohit Juglan mentioned that Ravindra Jadeja has had a decorated and accomplished career except for that one last bet, captaincy. He was offered the CSK captaincy, which was grabbed away from him after a few losses in the season.

However, with a full-time captaincy offer, Jadeja, who initially seemed reluctant to the move, might have been lured by the offer of Captaincy.

CSK retain lead spinner after Ashwin-Jadeja departure

The Chennai Super Kings will no longer have their two most veteran spinners of all time if the Jadeja deal goes as planned. Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement a few months back, and Ravindra Jadeja is likely to move away from the franchise.

The Chepauk tracks, however, continue to offer immense help to the spinners, and Noor Ahmed made full use of the conditions last time. Hence, Noor, the Afghan youngster, might be on the cards for CSK's retention plans, as confirmed by a RevSportz reporter.
