He noted that success on the field speaks louder than any number of posts or followers. The former Indian captain revealed that he had different managers throughout his career, and even though they kept pushing for PR, he never gave them heed, as he always believed in the one philosophy that his game should be enough to make noise among the fans.
MS Dhoni said on Eurogrip Tyres’ YouTube channel: “Throughout, I've had different managers, and all the managers are like, You should do some PR, build this, build that. So, I looked at all my different managers, and I had the same answer. You know, if I play good cricket, I don't need PR. It becomes very difficult to constantly put on something. So, I'm always like, you know, if I have something, I will put. If I don't have anything, I won't put. So, also it takes that stress away.”

MS Dhoni takes a dig at PR-obsessed players
MS Dhoni, the only winner of all the ICC trophies as captain, emphasized that if the players focus on excelling at their job on the 22 yards, everything else will fall into place. He feels that the pressure of maintaining a certain image on social media can be overwhelming, and it is totally necessary.
He noted, “I'm not worried about who has how many followers or who's doing what, because I know if I take care of cricket, everything else will take care of itself. If you do what you're doing very well, then why do you need all this awesome answer?”
The iconic cricketer also took a subtle dig at those players who are more concerned about their PR than their performances. He pointed out that social media can easily distract players, especially when they start caring too much about likes, comments, and opinions.

He further explained, “I'm not saying that it's a bad thing; people shouldn't do it, but at the same time, if it's not you, then don't do it. In the sense of it, if you get distracted because of it, if you feel, if you're amongst the person who reads the comments or response, and then if there are certain bad things that will be part of it, then you feel bad.”
Dhoni also stressed that social media might not be the right path to follow for those who get affected by negative comments, advising the young generation to stay true to themselves, focus on their craft, and let the results speak for themselves, as in the end, real success never needs a filter.
He signed off by saying, “So, if you know that's what is happening, you know, that's not the right thing for you. So, you know, be wise about whether it's helping you, or it's, you know, dragging you down. So, if you get the right answer, do what is the right thing.”
