MS Dhoni is my idol, and Virat Kohli...: CSK sensation's bold remarks
Chennai Super Kings batting sensation Sameer Rizvi heaped praises on legendary India players MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. Rizvi called Dhoni an inspiration for him and also revealed that he is a fan of Virat Kohli, as most Indian cricket fans are.
Sameer Rizvi is currently a part of Chennai Super Kings as he joined the team in IPL 2024. The talented right-hander was signed by CSK for a whopping amount of INR 8.4 crore in the IPL 2024 auction. His base price was INR 20 lakh.
Rizvi was picked on the back of a superb season in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League 2023 where he smashed 455 runs in 10 matches at an average of 50.56 and a strike rate of 188.80. He finished third on the list of highest run-scorers of the season.

Sameer Rizvi calls MS Dhoni his "inspiration"
While speaking to News24, Sameer Rizvi called MS Dhoni his inspiration. Rizvi was lucky to share the dressing room with MS Dhoni in his first IPL season.
"MS Dhoni is my idol and my inspiration," Rizvi said to News24.

After starting well in the tournament, Sameer Rizvi had a difficult first season of IPL this year. The right-hander was given a chance to play as a finisher but could not make a big impression in the lower order.
He scored just 51 runs in eight matches this season at an average of 12.75 and a strike rate of 118.60 with a best of 21.

During his conversation with News24, Rizvi also called lauded star India batter Virat Kohli. Rizvi claimed that both he and his sister are a fan of Virat Kohli.

Sameer Rizvi made some magnificent memories in IPL 2024 when he swept ace legspinner Rashid Khan for a brilliant six over the square leg region in the 19th over of the innings. Rizvi finished the over with another six off Rashid.
Despite his failures, Rizvi remains one of the biggest talents, especially in the shortest format. He is known as a brilliant player of spin bowling and the teams will look to use his skills to the best effect.
It remains to be seen whether CSK retains him before the upcoming auction or if he is forced to go to the mega-auction.
Sameer Rizvi is currently playing in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League 2024. He is looking in great form in the tournament with 170 runs in four matches at an average of 42.5 and a strike rate of 165.05. He is currently second on the list of highest run-scorers.
