Top international umpire Anil Chaudhary has suggested a new career option for the legendary India cricketer MS Dhoni. Chaudhary believes that Dhoni's ability to make accurate DRS calls makes him a great umpiring candidate for the future.

During his playing days, MS Dhoni's ability to take successful reviews was highly praised. Dhoni had the ability to judge the DRS calls to perfection which resulted in some really close DRS decisions going in India's favor.

The experts were so impressed with Dhoni's ability to take successful DRS calls that the term 'Decision Review System' was called the 'Dhoni Review System' at times. Umpire Anil Chaudhary has been the witness of such incidents on numerous occasions.

Anil Chaudhary suggests the next career option for MS Dhoni

Anil Chaudhary has officiated many games when MS Dhoni was a regular player. Even now during the IPL, Chaudhary officiates the matches which involve MS Dhoni.

During a podcast with Shubhanka Mishra on his YouTube channel, Chaudhary revealed that Dhoni is among the most accurate to use the DRS and has a lot of ideas about the game.

“That’s not the case always (Dhoni being right), sometimes it’s the other way around but he’s close to accuracy. He has a lot of ideas about the game,” Chaudhary said on the podcast.

The 59-year-old umpire further mentioned that MS Dhoni is close to accuracy and there are times when he stops others from appealing as well. He suggested that Dhoni could have a good umpiring career in the future.

“He’s (Dhoni) close to accuracy. Lot of the times he stops others from appealing. He can become a good umpire provided he’s ready to be inside the ground for seven hours,” Chaudhary added.

Anil Chaudhary hails Rishabh Pant's transformation

Anil Chaudhary also hailed Rishabh Pant's transformation into an accurate wicketkeeper while taking DRS decisions. He added that wicketkeepers have the best position on the ground as they can follow the ball.

“Rishabh Pant has also improved a lot from earlier days. It’s all about experience – you look at the replays and then reassess your calls.

"Wicketkeeper has got the best spot to keep an eye, they’re still and can follow the ball’s trajectory. In fact, best umpires sometimes base their decisions on the movement of wicketkeepers because they follow the ball,” Chaudhary reckoned.

It is often seen that the captains usually consult the wicketkeeper before deciding to take a DRS or not. This makes the role of the wicketkeepers very important during a DRS call.

A good and experienced wicketkeeper can be really helpful for his team during such situations and can make a difference.

Anil Chaudhary is an experienced umpire and is among the top three umpires in India currently. He has officiated in 4 Tests, 26 ODIs, and 44 T20Is so far in his career. Apart from international matches, he features regularly in the IPL matches. Currently, he is officiating in the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2024.
