Manoj Tiwary has reignited an old storm by pointing fingers at the former Indian captain MS Dhoni, head coach Duncan Fletcher, and the selectors for cutting short his international career.
Manoj Tiwary claimed that his career never took off despite scoring a century in Chennai, and blamed MS Dhoni and the think-tank for his short cricketing career. Tiwary said that he still has no clue why he wasn’t given a longer rope.
Manoj Tiwary blames MS Dhoni, Duncan Fletcher, and selectors for ending his India career
The former Indian batter-turned-politician said that he was left in the dark after his hundred against the West Indies, and it was really painful for him not to get any explanation for why he was suddenly dropped from the team.

Manoj Tiwary was quoted as saying by CricTracker: “I'm not the one who will be able to answer this question. I think MS Dhoni, Duncan Fletcher, and the selectors will be the ones who will be able to answer that because till now, I haven't got any answer. Furthermore, I'm not someone who will call up the coach or the selectors or the captain at that time to answer me this.
Manoj Tiwary still awaits answers from MS Dhoni over shocking snub
Tiwary admitted that he has never called up anyone for clarification, but is still waiting for the day he can directly ask MS Dhoni why he dropped him and didn’t give him consistent games for India. The former Indian batter has further said that many players might have gotten the backing of the former Indian captain, but he didn’t.
He signed off by saying, “But I've earlier said that whenever I come across MS Dhoni, definitely I'll ask him what are the main reasons why I was not given the opportunity after scoring 100. So, till now, I have no clue what went wrong, what were their thought process at that point of time. It is a question that needs to be asked to the ones who have made that decision and who were there at that time taking the calls.”
"So there is a very strong liking and disliking that happens in cricket everywhere. So I consider myself not liking one. He did not like me, maybe. That is the only thing that I can answer you," he added.

How Team India shut the door too soon on Manoj Tiwary
Notably, Manoj Tiwary had made his India debut during the Australia tour in Brisbane in 2008. He failed to make an impact and was dropped from the playing XI. The Bengal batter was then recalled for the West Indies tour and England tour, but he couldn’t even score 25 runs in one innings.
Still, Tiwary got the chance to play in the home ODI series against the West Indies, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring a brilliant unbeaten knock of 124 runs in Chennai. He was named Player of the Match for his knock as India won the game by 34 runs against the West Indies.
Despite his sensational century, the former all-rounder was dropped from the Indian team even though he was consistently making runs in domestic cricket. However, he got six ODIs here and there after that Chennai knock, but didn’t get consistent opportunities.
Tiwary also scored more than 10000 runs in First-Class cricket, but still, he was not given an opportunity in Test cricket. He ended his career with only 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is, where he scored 287 and 15 runs, respectively. He also has 15 wickets to his name in ODI cricket.
