Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain and wicketkeeper-batsman, Rashid Latif, has made a big claim on legendary India National Cricket Team captain MS Dhoni’s wicket-keeping skills.

Dhoni is regarded as one of the most successful captains and wicket-keepers in the history of international cricket. The 41-year-old, who is the only captain to win the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy, has 294 dismissals as a wicket-keeper in Tests, including 256 catches and 38 stumpings.

In ODIs, wicket-keeper Dhoni has 444 dismissals, including 321 catches and 123 stumpings. The India National Cricket Team legend is overall the 3rd most successful wicket-keeper in ODI cricket and 5th most successful wicket-keeper in Test cricket history.

Meanwhile, ex-Pakistan captain Latif has said that the wicket-keeping stats of Dhoni shows his dropping percentage is 21, which is quite high.

“Dhoni was a batsman-wicketkeeper. Obviously, Dhoni is a very big name. But if I go into stats, his dropping percentage is 21 percent, which is huge, huge,” Latif said on his official YouTube channel.

Latif further said that the legendary Australia National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist’s dropping percentage was 11. He added that along with Gilchrist, Proteas Mark Boucher was a very good keeper. Ex-Pakistan captain also said that the Australia National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Paine was a very good keeper in his early days.

“You can’t use my record because this particular record came into being from 2002 or 2003. We had already played by then. Adam Gilchrist had percentage of only 11, Mark Boucher was very good. Australia’s Tim Paine started well but towards the end dropped a lot of catches,” Latif said.

Rashid Latif named Ian Healy as one of the best stumpers of all-time and Quinton de Kock as the best modern-day wicketkeeper-batsman.

If you look at the best in last 15 years, then I would say Quinton de Kock is superb, has kept in all three formats and batted at the top of the order in white ball cricket,” he added.
