Legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni's former business partner, Mihir Diwakar, found himself in legal trouble as he was arrested on Tuesday (April 9) over alleged fraudulent activities.
Mr. Diwakar was arrested by the Jaipur Police after a criminal complaint was filed by Dhoni himself at the District Court in Ranchi against his former business partner and Soumya Das. Diwakar, who was serving as the director of Aarka Sports Management Pvt Ltd, was detained by the Jaipur police.
Diwakar was taken into custody in Jaipur after he was detained in Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), and later he was relocated to Jaipur. He was arrested after an FIR was filed against Diwakar at Jaipur's Karni Vihar police station, citing allegations of cheating. Diwakar was the director of the Aarka Sports Management Pvt Ltd.
Legal trouble for MS Dhoni's former business partner
As reported by TOI, Mihir Diwakar was primarily accused of using Dhoni's name without any authority to establish cricket academies around the world. Despite Dhoni's withdrawal of authorization, Diwakar allegedly opened several cricket academies in India and abroad by using the former Indian skipper’s name.
Additionally, Diwakar is accused of accepting payments for MS Dhoni Cricket and Sports Academies, breaching contractual agreements regarding franchise fees and profit-sharing ratios, resulting in fraud exceeding Rs 15 crore.
Aarka Sports had to follow franchise fees and profit-sharing terms as outlined in the agreement, but Diwakar breached all these contractual terms and conditions.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph stated: “A case of fraud was registered against the accused at Karni Vihar police station in 2023. After taking money, the accused neither opened the academy nor returned the funds.”

MS Dhoni filed a case last year against his partners
According to Dhoni’s lawyer, the former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper revealed that the cricket academies were established by his partners without his consent, and even his authorization letter to them was withdrawn on August 15, 2021.
Despite this revocation, they were establishing cricket academies and sports complexes under his name, all without informing him or sharing any financial details. Notably, Dhoni is currently busy in his IPL 2024 duty for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
However, ahead of this season, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter resigned as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, and Ruturaj Gaikwad is the new leader of the Yellow Army. Under the new skipper Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is doing a quite commendable job, as they have won three of their five games so far in the tournament.
