West Indies cricket legend Dwayne Bravo has shared his views on the ongoing speculation around MS Dhoni's future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With many fans and experts believing the time has come for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon MS Dhoni to retire, Bravo slammed the outside noise.
The five-time IPL-winning captain hasn’t yet confirmed whether IPL 2025 was his final season. Dhoni’s form raised eyebrows during Chennai Super Kings’ disappointing campaign, where they finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in the tournament’s history.
MS Dhoni's batting major concern for CSK!!
Dhoni has been troubled by the knee injury for the past two seasons, affecting his movement, especially while running between the wickets, which fueled chatter about his retirement. Still, Dhoni played a key role both as a wicketkeeper and a lower-order batter.

Even the legendary wicketkeeper-batter stepped in as captain midway through the season and scored 196 runs in 14 matches. Despite limited batting time, he smashed 12 sixes and even earned a Player of the Match award against Lucknow Super Giants. Behind the stumps, Dhoni showed glimpses of his old brilliance with quick reflexes and sharp glove work.
Dwayne Bravo slams speculation over MS Dhoni’s IPL future
Well, Dwayne Bravo, who spent significant time with Dhoni at CSK both as a player and coach, believes that the former Indian captain knows exactly when the right time to step away will be. He thinks Dhoni’s contribution on the field, even in small moments, is very important.
The former West Indies all-rounder admitted that Dhoni is not performing at the same level he was before, leading people to question his worth in the team, but stressed that people must understand that he's not the same person he was 8-10 years ago.
Bravo told the critics that MS Dhoni doesn't need a name or a brand, but CSK really needs his presence and influence.
He also pointed out that CSK management isn’t worried about Dhoni's form or future, but people are, and that’s the most baffling thing for him. He urged everyone to enjoy whatever time is left of Dhoni's IPL journey instead of forcing him to call time on his career.

He's still about a year or two: Dwayne Bravo on MS Dhoni's IPL future
Dwayne Bravo was quoted as saying by ANI: “You know, the little moments that he's on that field, face value, you can pay for that. You know, when someone like him walks away from the sport, the sport can dip. You know, so I think people just need to allow him. I know for a fact that CSK management is not worried about MS Dhoni.”
Bravo added, “So, the fact that other people are so worried and so concerned about him baffles me. He will walk away from the sport when he believes his body can no longer take it. He's going to be honest with himself, and he'll walk away. But at the moment, he is still contributing. His wicketkeeping is still up there with the best in the leagues. Let us just appreciate and accept the fact that he's still about a year or two. However long, let's enjoy that, and let's embrace it.”

CSK management isn't worried about Dhoni's retirement, it's other people who are concerned; and that baffles me. He's still the best WK in the IPL. He'll walk away whenever he thinks he can't contribute enough. MSD the name and brand is more imp than anything else. pic.twitter.com/dHxORC6avv
