MS Dhoni's teammate asks him to stop now!! Retirement announced

Former Indian player Joginder Sharma felt that MS Dhoni should retire from the IPL. Joginder played under MS Dhoni in the T20 World Cup in 2007.
Dhoni hasn’t confirmed anything yet about his future in the IPL. Fans want to see MS Dhoni in the yellow jersey, but former players have heavily criticised MSD for playing too many IPL seasons.
Joginder Singh’s remark on MS Dhoni’s retirement
MS Dhoni looks as fit as always, but Joginder thinks it’s time for Dhoni to retire from the IPL.
"Considering Mahi's fitness level, he should play up to prove his fitness, but I believe it is time for him to rest," Joginder stated to ANI.
Joginder also added that Dhoni has to prove his fitness as MSD always come on the pitch after six or seven wickets have fallen down. Currently, Dhoni is leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Will MS Dhoni play IPL 2026?
MSD got the opportunity to lead CSK again after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the IPL due to an injury. CSK has had a disastrous run this season, and Dhoni himself couldn’t change the fortunes for his side.
Dhoni hasn’t communicated anything to the CSK management about his participation in the next season, which means MSD might play IPL 2026.
Dhoni wants to make a new young core group for Chennai as CSK signed three young players mid-season, and all three batters proved themselves on the big stage.
CSK signed Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis and Urvil Patel as replacements, and all three of them played some brilliant innings to showcase their talent.
CSK’s poor run in IPL 2025
CSK have been the worst team in this IPL season as they have just won three matches out of 12 games. They won their first match against the Mumbai Indians, but after that, CSK derailed in the season.
Their batting was mediocre in the initial matches, that's why they signed all their replacement as proper batters. The bowling also wasn’t up to the mark.
CSK bought Ravichandran Ashwin and Noor Ahmed in the mega auction. They wanted to strengthen their spin department to win all matches on their home ground.
But Chennai only managed to win one match on their home ground. The Men in Yellow lost five matches this season at Chepauk.
CSK have two matches remaining in the tournament, and today, the Men in Yellow will play against the Rajasthan Royals. Both teams are at the bottom of the table, and if CSK beat RR, then Rajasthan will finish in the last position in IPL 2025.
CSK's last match of IPL 2025 will be against the table toppers, Gujarat Titans, at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 25.
