India broke several records on the way to scoring a mammoth total in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad. The Men in Blue posted 297-6 on the board in 20 overs, thanks to an unbelievable hitting from the T20 superstars.
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra was in awe of this batting effort and lauded the head coach Gautam Gambhir and the captain Suryakumar Yadav for India's attacking approach. Chopra also claimed that India showed everyone why they are the world champions.
Aakash Chopra hails Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra shared his thoughts on India's batting approach. He reckoned that Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav are doing a good job till now and are just continuing from where they left off in Sri Lanka.
"The pairing of Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav is doing a good job. They started in Sri Lanka, here also they did the same thing and the way they are playing. Being the world champions is one thing but you want to show that to everyone and at times by shaking them," Chopra said while speaking on his YouTube channel.
India played with an aggressive batting approach in the T20I series against Sri Lanka as well. It was the first series for Suryakumar Yadav as a full-time captain and Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of India.
"We would chase 300 while batting" - Aakash Chopra on India's aggressive batting
Chopra further showed confidence in the team's ability to chase down big scores with this approach. He compared Suryakumar's era with the former Indian captains who led the team in this format.
"It doesn't matter if it's a dead rubber and the opposition team lacks might, we would chase 300 while batting. When you went to bowl, you told the team that you were defending 160," Chopra reckoned.
"(MS) Dhoni's time was about process. Virat Kohli's time was play to win. Rohit Sharma's philosophy was fearless. Suryakumar Yadav is constantly talking about playing selflessly," he noted.
India have clearly stated that they want to go with an attacking approach from now onwards in this format. This approach won them the T20 World Cup 2024 as Rohit Sharma led the team from the front.
India thrash Bangladesh; clinch the series 3-0
Meanwhile, India defeated Bangladesh by a massive margin of 133 runs to complete a clean sweep over the visitors. Bangladesh hardly gave any fight to India in all the matches as the Men in Blue showed why they are the current world champions in the format.
India smashed 25 fours and 22 sixes in the third T20I, which is a record in terms of the most no. of boundaries in T20Is. Sanju Samson smashed 111 off 47 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes while skipper Suryakumar Yadav was at his belligerent best and scored 75 off 35 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes.
In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for a meager 164-7 in 20 overs. Bangladeshi batters hardly looked comfortable while trying to score quickly and gave away wickets at regular intervals. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy provided some respite for the visitors but they could not even take their team closer to India's total.
