Cricketer-turned-commentator Gautam Gambhir, known as one of the finest openers for the Indian national cricket team, recently shared that his biggest regret in life Gautam Gambhir expressed that becoming a cricketer was the most significant regret of his career.
Gautam Gambhir represented the national team across all three formats during his illustrious 13-year international career. The left-handed batter played crucial roles in India’s title victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and the 2011 World Cup in India.
The southpaw scored 75 runs against Pakistan in the final match of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. The top-order batter scored 97 runs in the Men in Blue’s last ODI World Cup victory. He was the top scorer for the Indian team in the two final matches.

During Season 2 of the “Bada Bharat Show,” Gautam Gambhir was asked about the biggest regret of his life. The former Indian skipper candidly revealed that his biggest regret was pursuing a career in cricket.
“Mujhe cricketer nhi hona chahiye tha (I should not have become a cricketer),” Gambhir said.
Gautam Gambhir Debuted For India In 2003
The 41-year-old achieved massive milestones during his international career. The sothpaw smashed five centuries in back-to-back Test matches; only Indian cricketers have achieved the record. He also attained the No. 1 batter ranking in the longer format of the game.
The Delhi-born cricketer made his international debut for India against Bangladesh on April 11, 2003. He represented the team in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20Is in international cricket. He scored 4154 runs, 5238 runs, and 932 runs in the three formats, respectively.
Gambhir last played for India against England in a Test match in 2016. The opener retired from all formats of international cricket on December 3, 2018. He joined the BJP and won the Member of Parliament (MP) election in 2019 from the East Delhi constituency.
