Mukesh Kumar ditches Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to credit this Indian player for his success in International Cricket
The Indian team pacer Mukesh Kumar went from a domestic stalwart to an all-format campaigner for the national team in no time. The right-handed pacer made his debut across all formats during the West Indies tour in 2023 and has performed well to cement his place in the national team for the time being. Mukesh Kumar plays domestic cricket for West Bengal and his hometown is in Gopalganj, Bihar.
Mukesh Kumar has an excellent opportunity to make his home debut in the red-ball format during the upcoming five-match Test series against England. Mohammed Shami has been ruled out due to his injury, at least for the initial phase that is their first two Test matches. The Indian Team management will be keen on rotating the pacers across the five-match Test series, giving all the fast bowlers a solid chance to feature at some phase during the red-ball battle against England.
Mukesh Kumar had to work for his game in the white-ball and it all started with Delhi Capitals who first got him as a Net bowler and then purchased him in the mini auctions. He has shown glimpses of his skills in the IPL for Delhi Capitals, defending 13 runs in an over against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023. Recently, he talked about Jasprit Bumrah and how the Indian speedster motivates him and advises him to do better. He particularly talked about Bumrah’s advice on his yorkers.
“Bumrah bhai keeps advising me on the yorker in particular. He says, ‘Tu bahut acchha yorker daalta hai. Jo kar raha hai, bas wahi karta jaa’ (You bowl the yorker well. Keep doing what you have been). We talk quite regularly and he gives me other suggestions, which are obviously invaluable,” Mukesh Kumar said in an interaction with Telegraph India.
Mukesh Kumar Has Caught Eyes With His Death Bowling In T20 Cricket
The pacer made his presence felt in the 2023 IPL with his performances, leading to his international debut. Mukesh Kumar has caught a lot of attention with his death bowling in particular. The composure he shows and the near-perfect execution of his deliveries are something that every team needs from their fast bowlers. Apart from defending 13 runs in the last over for DC, the pacer also got to bowl the super over in the third T20I against Afghanistan in the recently concluded series.
