Just a couple of days before India’s much-anticipated five-match Test series opener against England, Mukesh Kumar took social media by storm with his Instagram story that has been going viral since June 18. Mukesh Kumar said, “Karma is unforgiving,” but didn’t reveal what had made him furious.
The Bengal pacer was recently part of the India A tour to England, and he delivered a standout performance in the first four-day match against the England Lions, picking up 3 wickets for 92 runs, the best figures for his side. But to everyone’s surprise, he was benched for the second game.
Mukesh Kumar’s bold ‘Karma’ Instagram post stuns fans ahead of England Tests
And then the real shocker came. However, Mukesh was not part of India’s 18-member squad for the upcoming five-match Test series against England, but another pacer who was also not part of the squad got the nod ahead of him despite his ordinary performance with the red ball.
Actually, on June 17, pacer Harshit Rana, who was also part of the India A squad, was added to the Test squad as the 19th member despite his poor outing in the first unofficial Test, registering the figures of 1/99 against England Lions. Yet, Rana leapfrogged Mukesh for India selection.
After which, the Bengal speedster dropped his emotional yet one-line bomb on Instagram. He wrote on his Instagram story with a black background: “Karma bides its time. You will always have to watch out. Karma is unforgiving and always gets payback.”

As soon as the post went viral, fans instantly sensed Mukesh’s frustration and disappointment boiling over the latest development. They speculated that the Indian fast bowler’s post was a direct reaction to being overlooked in favor of Rana for the upcoming England Test series.
Some even felt Mukesh could have been a valuable asset in the swinging conditions of England.

Dodda Ganesh slams Harshit Rana's selection
Meanwhile, Harshit Rana's surprise inclusion in India’s Test squad has triggered heavy criticism, with many questioning the decision, including the former India pacer Dodda Ganesh.
The former cricketer openly expressed his confusion on social media, saying he doesn’t understand why the India team management and Gautam Gambhir are so focused on Harshit. He even suggested that Anshul Kamboj would have been a better option for the Test series in England.
Dodda Ganesh posted, X: “Anshul Kamboj should have been added to the squad. Don’t understand this obsession with Harshit Rana.” Rana, who made his Test debut against Australia last year, has played just two matches so far and taken four wickets in whites.
Mukesh Kumar's India story
Notably, Kumar has represented India in just three matches so far. He made his debut in the West Indies and then made two appearances in South Africa and India.
However, his performance in the Vizag Test during the home series against England was not up to the mark, and he has lost his place in the Test side since then.
Mukesh Kumar has 7 wickets to his name in his three Tests. His last appearance in an India jersey came in July 2024, during a T20I series against Zimbabwe.
