Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen has responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) legal notice in a sarcastic and defiant manner. The PCB has accused the PSL franchise owner of violating several clauses listed in the 10-year contract.
The ownership rights of the teams in the PSL will come to an end in December, 10 years after the tournament began. The existing owners need to re-bid in order to retain the ownership of the teams.
PCB last month sent a legal notice to Multan Sultans
In a recent statement, Multan Sultans claimed that the PCB has threatened to 'blacklist' their owner for his criticism of the PSL management unless he issues a public apology. In the last one year or so, Ali Khan Tareen has not shied away from taking shots at the PSL management for a lack of communication or transparency. He also criticized the process of rebidding for the franchise and the entry of two new teams next season.

"The PCB last month sent a legal notice to Multan Sultans, demanding that our owner Ali Tareen retracts all recent critical statements and issues a public apology to the PSL management. The notice threatens termination of our franchise agreement and a lifetime blacklist of Mr. Tareen from owning any cricket team in the future," Multan Sultans said in a statement.
The franchise then went on to hit out at the PCB management, stating: "For the PCB management to treat constructive criticism as a crime is outrageous.
"It demonstrates the pettiness of the current management and clearly shows that the PSL is not open to questions or accountability, even from those who have given the most to make it stronger. Silencing honest feedback is not how great leagues are built.
"His commitment to Pakistani cricket is unwavering, and his only goal is to help the PSL reach the level its players and fans deserve."
Ali Khan Tareen hits out at PCB
If the PCB goes on to blacklist Ali Khan Tareen, he won't be able to re-bid for Multan Sultans once the existing 10-year contract expires. However, the threat has not stopped the current franchise owner from slamming the PCB management.
He posted a video on his social media handle X and delivered a sarcastic rebuttal as he maintained his stance. Ali Khan Tareen once again lamented the lack of direct communication between the PCB management and the franchises, saying that he never received a 'single call, message, email or invitation' to sort out the issues.
"Instead I was served a legal notice. If you were more competent, you would know these matters aren’t handled this way," said Ali Khan Tareen.
Speaking further, he stated that while his legal team saw no need for an apology, he was ready to offer one for the sake of the PSL. He ended the video by ripping apart the legal notice and said: "So, I hope you like my apology video."
