Multan Sultans Rope In Catherine Dalton As Fast Bowling Coach - Reports

Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Multan Sultans has roped in Catherine Dalton as their fast bowling coach for the next edition of the tournament. With the signing, he scripted history as she became the first female fast-bowling coach of a top-level team.
Catherine Dalton, who represented Ireland in four ODIs and four T20Is, is an ECB-certified Level 3 Advanced Coach. She was part of the national fast-bowling academy as a head coach. Apart from this, she also was the fast bowling coach of the Ultimate Pace Foundation in India. The former Ireland cricketer worked with Indian speedster Deepak Chahar.
Catherine Dalton worked with Ian Pont and Andre Nel as an assistant head coach at the UK-based National Fast-Bowling Academy. She had earlier visited Pakistan as well and helped young pacers from the country Mohammad Ilyas, Sameen Gul, and Arshad Iqbal.
Catherine Dalton talked about her appointment and said that she was thrilled to join the team. She said that it was a ground-breaking moment for her. Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, she explained:
“Having worked in Pakistan with some of the Multan Sultan players on two previous visits, I am really thrilled to be officially joining up with the franchise at the PSL. It’s not lost on me the ground-breaking moment for a female fast-bowling coach to be working in a major men’s T20 franchise. I am very humbled by the opportunity and cannot wait to hopefully help make a difference on multiple levels.”

Co-owner of Multan Sultans, Ali Tareen talked about the signing and said that he always knew that Catherine Dalton would become a coach.
“Catherine has been part of our player-development programme for almost five years now. I have seen how she has improved players first-hand. I always knew she would become a fast-bowling coach at a high level. And I am so glad that her first opportunity came at the Sultans.”
The next edition of the PSL will be played between February 8 and March 24, 2024. Multan Sultans were runner-ups in the last edition.
