Former Indian cricketer Subramaniam Badrinath reacted to Hardik Pandya’s appointment as the captain of the Mumbai Indians for the IPL 2024. Badrinath emphasized the franchise’s forward-thinking approach and its willingness to make bold decisions for success.

Hardik Pandya played a crucial role for the Mumbai Indians from his IPL debut in 2015 until 2021. However, he was released from the squad ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The MI management retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kieron Pollard.

Following his release from the Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya was quickly signed by the Gujarat Titans (GT) and named the team’s captain. The all-rounder led the team to their maiden IPL trophy in their debut season and secured a runner-up finish in the second season.

The Mumbai Indians had a challenging season in IPL 2022, finishing at the bottom. They reached the playoffs in the following edition. In a significant move, the Mumbai franchise decided to replace Rohit Sharma as captain with Pandya for the upcoming season of the league.

Hardik Pandya has assumed the captaincy of the T20I side in the absence of Rohit Sharma. There is uncertainty about Rohit’s inclusion in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad. If Rohit is not part of the squad, it is anticipated that Hardik will lead the team in the tournament.
