Musheer Khan, brother of Sarfaraz Khan, has further enhanced his reputation by scoring a stunning double century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy quarterfinal clash between Mumbai and Baroda.

The 18-year-old was not a part of Mumbai???s original squad but earned a recall to replace injured allrounder Shivam Dube and has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. More than a year after a forgettable debut in the Ranji Trophy, Musheer Khan came of age in the crucial game against Baroda.

Mumbai were reeling at 99 for 4 and then 142 for 5 at one stage before the youngster led his team???s recovery. While the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Bhupen Lalwani, and captain Ajinkya Rahane failed to get going, the young batsman held firm. He forged a brilliant 181-stand with Hardik Tamore for the sixth wicket to bail Mumbai out of trouble. At the end of the first day???s play, Mumbai were on 248 for 5 with Musheer Khan unbeaten on 128 and Tamore unbeaten on 30.

On the second day, the duo took the score past the 300-run mark before Ninad Rathva dismissed Tamore for 57 to give Baroda a much-needed breakthrough. While he kept losing wickets at regular intervals at one end, he stood firm at his end and went on to complete a brilliant double century.

Mumbai were eventually bowled out for 384 runs and Musheer Khan remained unbeaten on 203. His knock came off 357 balls and was studded with 18 fours. The knock has also helped him enter an elite list of players who converted their maiden first-class century into a double-century. He also became the second youngest Mumbai batsman to achieve the feat after former batter Wasim Jaffer.

Musheer Khan impresses in Under-19 World Cup:
