Mustafizur Rahman all but OUT of West Indies tour due to Rohit Sharma-like situation

Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be without the services of premier pacer Mustafizur Rahman in the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies National Cricket Team. As per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that the fast bowler has applied for leave for the tour.

Mustafizur Rahman and his wife are expecting their child, and hence, the fast bowler is unlikely to be available. But the reports in Cricbuzz claimed that the final call related to his availability will be taken following his arrival from UAE after the ongoing three-match ODI series against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team.

After the ongoing ODI series against the Afghanistan National Cricket Team, Mustafizur Rahman is likely to return to Dhaka on November 13. The rest of the members who will be playing against the West Indies will depart for the tour from Dubai, and Test specialists like Mominul Haque and Taijul Islam will travel to Dubai soon to join the squad.

A source close to the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed that Mustafizur Rahman has asked for paternity leave, but they have yet to take the call. He said that they would be having a conversation with the fast bowler once he is back home, and then only after that will they see if he is available or not. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he explained:

"He (Mustafizur) indeed asked for leave (during the white-ball series against West Indies), but we are yet to decide as there is still time in our hands. Let him come and we can talk over the matter and see whether he can be available for one format (ODIs, T20Is) or not."

The source close to the Bangladesh Cricket Board also mentioned that they would be taking care of his family's needs first and then taking any call. He added: "At the same time, we have to consider this is a family issue, and it is a top priority for everyone."

Bangladesh National Cricket Team will be traveling for an all-format tour to the West Indies. The two teams will be locking horns with each other first in the Test series. The opening game will be played from November 22 with the second Test starting on November 30.

Following that the two teams will be locking horns with each other in the three-match ODI series. The opening match will be played on Sunday (8th December), followed by the second and third games of the series to be played on Tuesday (10th December) and Thursday (12th December).

Bangladesh's tour to West Indies will conclude with the three-match T20I series. The first game of the series will be played on Monday (16th December). The second match of the series will be played on Wednesday (18th December) while the last game is scheduled to take place on Friday (20th December).
