Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is all set to mark his return to international cricket after a period of rest. The left-arm quick was given a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection on Wednesday (March 12) after which he needed some rest.
Mustafizur Rahman played a part in Bangladesh's dismal Champions Trophy campaign where they finished third in their group behind the eventual finalists India and New Zealand, and thus, failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Why was Mustafizur Rahman rested?
A member of BCB's medical unit claimed that Mustafizur was given a PRP injection and will need some rest before he returns to the field again. The injection was given to heal his old injury on his left shoulder.
"He (Mustafizur) was given a PRP injection and now he will need some rest before returning to field. Mustafizur is not having any new injury but the left-shoulder that was operated earlier causes problem at times, and he manages that (discomfort) and play," the member was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
The PRP treatment includes injecting a concentrated amount of a patient's own platelets into an injury to speed up the healing and reduce inflammation, which potentially speeds up tissue repair and decreases pain.
The member also confirmed that a player takes 7-10 days on average to fully recover from the PRP injection and this is likely to be the case with Rahman as well. The left-arm quick will be expected to be back on the field soon.
When will Mustafizur Rahman make a comeback?
Mustafizur Rahman is expected to make his comeback to professional cricket via the ongoing Dhaka Premier League, which is the country's premier List A domestic tournament. He is likely to make his appearance after Eid-Ul-Fitr.
The experienced pacer is likely to play for Prime Bank Cricket Club, the same team that he represented last year in the Dhaka Premier League. "Let us see when he gets fit and later if we can have him within our budget certainly we will go for him," a Prime Bank Cricket Club was quoted as saying.
There are also speculations that Mustafizur might be seen in the IPL although there is no confirmation in this regard. He went into the IPL 2025 mega auction for a base price of INR 2 crore but went unsold.

He went into the tournament with a lot of expectations as Bangladesh's leading pacer but failed to live up to the expectations. However, he is still a gun white-ball bowler for Bangladesh and will be crucial for them in the upcoming tournaments.
Bangladesh will play a two-match Test series against Zimbabwe at home beginning on April 20. The first Test of the series will be played in Sylhet while the second one will be played at Chattogram.
