Mumbai Indians’ (MI) Naman Dhir put down an easy catch at the first slip. Punjab Kings opener Prabhsimran Singh gets an extra lifeline in the early stage of the 58th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026).

On the third ball of the second of the first innings, Jasprit Bumrah hit the middle of the deck hard for a back-of-the-length delivery. Prabhsimran Singh tried to play the ball on the rise, but produced a thick edge in return.

Naman Dhir drops an easy catch at first slip at the PBKS vs MI IPL 2026 match.

The ball went straight towards the first slip, where Naman Dhir was posted. Dhir is normally recognized as one of the safest fielders in the Mumbai Indians camp. While he went to take the catch, he looked out of confidence. Dhir stretched both of his hands forward, but missed the chance completely.

Jasprit Bumrah is playing the match as the stand-in skipper of the Mumbai Indians, as both Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have been ruled out of the game. Pandya is not playing because of the back spasm he received a few days ago. Suryakumar Yadav is out because of personal reasons. Another player, Allah Ghazanfar, is also not included in this match.

Records for MI and Jasprit Bumrah

At this point in the tournament, MI has nothing to lose as they have already been eliminated from the title race. It is a prestige fight for the 5-time IPL winners, and they will want to win the match to save their pride and to collect some motivation for the next season.
