India vs West Indies second ODI is currently underway at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. During the first innings, the India National Cricket Team all-rounder Naman Dhir twisted his ankle while bowling. He looked in pain and walked off the field in the middle of an over. This is a worrying sign for the Men in Blue.
Shubman Gill-led Team India have already taken the lead in the three-match ODI series after winning the first game by 8 wickets as Virat Kohli smacked 139 runs in the run chase. But they have been in trouble in the second ODI, with the West Indies batters smashing the Indian bowlers in every corner of the ground.
Naman Dhir suffers ankle injury during India’s 2nd ODI vs West Indies
During the first ball of the 36th over, Naman Dhir twisted his left ankle not once but twice in the span of a few seconds and was on the floor. The physio came out, and he was taken off the field. Though he walked without any support, it looked a bit worrying. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been on as the substitute fielder.
Naman Dhir has bowled 6.1 overs in the game, and he has failed to pick a wicket. However, he had a chance to take his maiden wicket, as Virat Kohli put down a sharp catch at mid-wicket off Shai Hope, who was batting at 27 at that time, and the Windies skipper went on to score a hundred in the match.
Naman Dhir's performance in the 1st ODI
Naman made his debut in the first ODI as he bowled 5 overs, conceded 33 runs, and took 0 wickets at an economy rate of 6.60, and he did not bat in the game as India just lost two wickets.
In this second game, he also took a brilliant diving catch in the cover-point region to dismiss Keacy Carty. He also took the catch of the match's first centurion, John Campbell. Hopefully, India would want him to come and bat if needed in this game, with a massive target to be set by Windies.
