Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal expressed his concerns over the comments of Naseem Shah ahead of the first Test against Bangladesh. He said that the fast bowler’s comments gave a hint that the team wasn’t playing together as one and that PCB should take measures.
The Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is just a few days away from now. The series will also mark the comeback of Naseem Shah in Test cricket as he hasn’t featured in the format for a while because of his injury.
Naseem Shah would be keen to make a successful comeback in Test and the series will also be a massive opportunity for the Pakistan team to stage a comeback. They have had a tough time of late as they went through quite a few terrible losses.
Naseem Shah ahead of the Test series, during the training session, talked about the tough time for the team, saying that they now need to play as a team. Speaking to Geo News, the fast bowler had said:
"Yes, our comeback wasn't great, and we can't deny that we didn't play good cricket. Criticism is part of it, and we must endure it until things improve. This is a good chance to bounce back, play better, and show up as a team.“
Kamran Akmal reacts to Naseem Shah's comments
Reacting to Naseem Shah’s comments, Kamran Akmal said that his statement was a worrying sign for him. He questioned the team if they played together or not. He stressed that such kind of comments are made when things are not right. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:
"Naseem Shah, what he said in the press, that's a little worrying point for me. That we will have to play as one. What does it mean? Didn't the team play with unity before? Such things are said in the media when there are such things in the team. So let's see. The team management and the PCB should end this what Naseem Shah said in the media or what I heard.
"God forbid that these things do not happen. And what the team needs at the moment, is only those who can take cricket to the top level, that’s just a victory, good cricket with good intent. And this is a good opportunity for Pakistan. Pakistan has a series with Bangladesh. They should win 2-0 just like they did when they toured Bangladesh.
"So the Pakistan team shouldn’t take batting so easy. But we will have to work hard. Because in the recent past, we have not played any good cricket."
The Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is all set to take place from next week. The first game will be played in Rawalpindi from 21st August while the second game is scheduled to take place from 30th August in Karachi. The two games will also be part of the ICC World Test Championship and the Shan Masood-led side would want to make a comeback and give something to cheer to fans.
