The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 final is being played on Sunday, as the England National Cricket Team plays the Australia National Cricket Team at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup has been amazing, as England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt rose to the occasion for the team in the final.

Australia won the toss and opted to field first in the all-important clash. They made no changes from their 8-wicket win over the West Indies in the semi-final. Nat Sciver-Brunt’s side also played the same team from their win in the semi-final against South Africa by 40 runs. In the match, after scoring the fifty, England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt achieved a unique milestone.

Nat Sciver-Brunt achieves new milestone

Nat Sciver-Brunt scored her fifty in 45 balls and now holds the record for the most 50-plus scores in the history of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, registering nine fifty-plus innings in just 31 innings. She has gone past Suzie Bates and Beth Mooney, who both have eight 50-plus scores in 44 and 31 innings, respectively.

Sciver-Brunt has entered an elite group by hitting 50 or more runs in both the semifinals and finals of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Before her, only Meg Lanning (2016), Beth Mooney (2023), and Laura Wolvaardt (2023) had accomplished this incredible feat. She finished the innings with an unbeaten score of 58 off 53 deliveries, smashing five fours.

Nat Sciver-Brunt to rescue for England

Coming to the match after being asked to bat first, the hosts did not have the best of starts as they lost Amy Jones in the second over. After that, Danni Wyatt-Hodge also went back early for just 8 runs. However, the latter has scored 300 runs in a single season of the T20 World Cup for the first time in the tournament's history.

After that, Alice Capsey and Nat Sciver-Brunt stitched a small partnership of 35 runs, with the former playing the role of the aggressor as she was dismissed on the score of 23 off 20 balls. Later on, Sciver-Brunt and Freya Kemp stitched a partnership of 80 runs off 55 deliveries as the latter scored 44* off 28 deliveries.

"I think that score of 150 is brilliant"- Alice Capsey on England's batting performance

Alice Capsey said the England camp were delighted with posting 150, describing it as an excellent total in the final. She praised her captain and Kemp for their outstanding finish.

"I think that score of 150 is brilliant. The way Nat and Kempy went about their business there at the end was outstanding. And I think it showed how to play on that pitch. And, yeah, to do that under high pressure of the final was great."

"[On her assessment of the conditions and what England’s bowlers need to do] Yeah, look, I think when you bowl good lines and lengths, it was pretty tricky. So, yeah, the bowlers all have their plans and already had their plans to their match-ups. So, yeah, look forward to watching our bowlers go out there and do their thing today."

"Yeah, definitely, it’s amazing. Just trying to take it all in, I guess. And, yeah, I think half of the job done now, and we’re just looking forward to getting out there as a group and putting on hopefully a show for that second half. And, yeah, then we can really enjoy this Lord’s crowd hopefully at the end."
