"Nathan Lyon Countered My Gameplan, Never Made Things Easy For Me" - Cheteshwar Pujara On BGT 2020-21
Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara said that Australian spinner, Nathan Lyon, had read him well from the past series and troubled him a lot in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 series.
Pujara’s plans against spin are quite straightforward where the right-hander dances down the track often to smother the spin. Lyon, however, knew of the same and made minor adjustments against Pujara.
“He is a world-class bowler. He knows what my game plans were. This time he had watched all the videos from the 2018-19 series. He had made some adjustments and was up for this challenge because his pace was different, lines were different.”
“He was expecting me to step down every second ball, which was very good of him. He never made things easy for me. He countered my gameplan,” Pujara said during the docu-series ‘Bando Mein Tha Dum’ streaming on VOOT.
“I could not sleep well for the next couple of days” – Cheteshwar Pujara on Gabba heroics
Pujara spoke about the bruises he received during the 4th Test in Gabba during India’s epic run chase in the final innings on Day 5. He said he was unable to sleep after being hit repeatedly on the body.
“I could not sleep well for the next couple of days. The pain was so much that I could not sleep on my left side. I kept playing on with a fracture in my index finger. When you are doing a job for the country, you forget the pain. But you realise that later,” he also mentioned.
India made a comeback for the ages against Australia when they reversed the Adelaide defeat in the first Test by winning in Melbourne and Perth.
