Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul heaped praise on the premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his remarkable performances, especially against Pakistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Bumrah is on fire with the ball in the mega event, taking five wickets in three games so far.

However, Bumrah might not have taken many wickets, but he is so economical in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. He won back-to-back Player of the Match awards for his contribution to Team India’s wins over Ireland and Pakistan. However, Bumrah returned wicketless against the USA.

KL Rahul hails Jasprit Bumrah as India’s National Treasure amidst T20 World Cup 2024 brilliance

Following his match-winning spell against Pakistan, many have been calling Bumrah a national treasure, and Rahul echoed their sentiments, saying his impact is just unparalleled and nobody can bring what he does for India across the formats.

The Indian wicketkeeper hails Bumrah as a champion cricketer and describes him as a national treasure for India while highlighting his consistent performance at the highest level of cricket.

KL Rahul was quoted as saying by Times Now: “He is a champion cricketer and he has proved it right from when he started playing cricket at the highest level. He is a national treasure, no doubt about it and what he does, and what he brings to the team hasn't been matched in a long time by anybody else in world cricket, he also keeps growing from strength to strength and he's a tough competitor and I've seen him and played with him for so many years.”

Having played alongside him for several years, Rahul has seen Bumrah’s continuous growth and resilience as a competitor. He also acknowledged Bumrah's relentless drive to improve and his strong determination to win matches for the team.

Jasprit Bumrah is hungry to keep getting better: KL Rahul

Rahul said that the collective ambition of the Indian cricket team is T20 World Cup glory, fueled by the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the ODI World Cup 2023 title last year against Australia.

The right-handed batter added, “I know how hungry he is to keep getting better, how hungry he is to win games for his team and everyone has the World Cup in the back of the head and they want to be able to, have that feeling of lifting the cup. We just barely missed out in November, which was very painful for all of us, but I am sure some of that experience and some of that pain from not being able to win the World Cup in November will be used by some of the players to push that much harder and try and go one step ahead and bring the cup home.”

Rahul believes that Bumrah will play a key role in the Men in Blue's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign. He expressed hope that Bumrah would sustain his impressive performances for years to come, provided he maintained his fitness and continued to contribute to India's victories on the global stage.

He signed off by saying, “Bumrah is one of the main players for India and a lot rest on his shoulders in this tournament, and yeah, I am hoping he can continue to do what he is doing, not just in the first two games, but for years to come, stay fit and win games of cricket for the country.”

Notably, India has qualified for the Super-8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 after thrashing the USA by seven wickets in their third Group A game on June 12. They have now joined Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies in the Super 8s of the tournament.
