After a record-breaking win over the Netherlands in the first ODI on Friday, Jos Buttler desires England to continue to chase the fantastical 500-run target in ODI cricket. England shattered 498/4 to come out on top by 232 runs, breaking their record for the highest team total in ODI history.
Buttler, Dawid Malan, and Phil Salt all managed to score centuries, while Liam Livingstone came in in the 45th over and scored England’s quickest ODI fifty as they broke their old best of 481 against Australia in 2018.

‘We will keep trying to improve’: Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler’s century came in 47 balls, the second-fastest in England history and one ball short of his record.
“We have come even close once before, and the statement in the team is to continue pressing limits and taking a team forward, take the game on,” Buttler told reporters.

“Is it just a matter of time before we reach 500? I have no idea. We will keep trying. It is a difficult goal to have. “I think the main thing, regardless of the score, is the mindset we are displaying as a team. We will keep trying to improve and be a better team when we play. We know that will help us.”
The second ODI between the Netherlands and England will be played on Sunday at Amstelveen’s VRA Cricket Ground. England currently leads the three-match One-Day International series 1-0.
