Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar is unhappy with India's captain Rohit Sharma for not bowling Ravindra Jadeja in front of Bangladesh's left-handers. Manjrekar posted a stat in which he showed Jadeja's record against former England opener Alastair Cook, who was also a left-hander.

Bangladesh have five left-handers in their top seven. The first four batters in the line-up are all left-handers and Rohit insisted on bowling more offspin to them. As a result, Ravichandran Ashwin came in to bowl early in the innings.

Ravindra Jadeja, meanwhile, was not given the ball at all in the first session due to the presence of left-handers at the crease. While Jadeja did not bowl, India's other frontline bowlers had a good spell before lunch.

Sanjay Manjrekar unhappy with Rohit Sharma for his use of Ravindra Jadeja

Sanjay Manjrekar was clearly not happy with Rohit's use of Jadeja and slammed the Indian captain. He took to social media and showed Jadeja's bowling stats to Alastair Cook in the 2016 series between India and England.

The stats showed that Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Alastair Cook for six out of eight times while conceding 75 runs in the series. The stats clearly show that Jadeja was all over Cook and kept picking up his wicket consistently.

Manjrekar mentioned in his post that Rohit Sharma needs to be shown this stat as he tends to not bowl the left-arm spinner in front of the left-handers.

"Rohit (Sharma) tends to not bowl (Ravindra) Jadeja early when there are left landers out there," Manjrekar posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Alastair Cook is considered a legendary player during his time. The former England opener was a brilliant player of spin and had a terrific record in Asia with 2252 runs at an average of 60.86. While the other England players used to struggle against spin, Cook had the ability to bat long in such conditions. But it was Jadeja against whom he struggled.

Ravindra Jadeja against left-handers in Chennai

Ravindra Jadeja is a highly experienced bowler and has a decent record against left-handers. In the first Test at Chennai, he picked up five wickets, out of which two were the left-handers in the form of Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto.

It is quite normal for a captain not to bowl a left-arm spinner in front of a left-handed batter. The captains usually tend to bowl an offspinner or a legspinner more. Rohit Sharma also seems to be going by that strategy here.

While Sanjay Manjrekar wasn't happy with the use of Ravindra Jadeja, he also does not share a great history with the India allrounder. During the 2019 ODI World Cup, Manjrekar called Jadeja a bits and pieces player. Interestingly, Jadeja came up with a fiery reply and slammed Manjrekar directly on social media.
