Nepal T20 League - Far West United Finish Their Campaign With A Win Over Pokhara Avengers

Far West United, on Saturday (January 7), beat Pokhara Avengers by 41 runs in their last league game to finish their campaign in the ongoing Nepal T20 League 2022/23 with a win.
Before the match, United were at the bottom of the points table while Avengers were just above them. Thanks to the win, United finished the six-team competition at the fifth spot, one spot above Avengers. Both teams finished their respective campaigns with 3 wins and 7 losses.
Chasing 188, the Avengers were all out for 146 in the 19th over. At 65 for 1 in the 9th over, the Avengers were well placed and were looking set to put up a good show. But once captain Upul Tharanga was run out for 36, they lost their way.
They lost three wickets in quick succession to find themselves reeling at 78 for 4 from 65 for 1. Siddhant Lohani (28) and Pratis GC (34) then stopped the rot with a 51-run stand before the Avengers lost another collapse. Karan KC broke the stand by dismissing Pratis and the Avengers lost their remaining wickets in quick time to be all out for 146 from 129 for 4.

Far West United innings:
Batting first, Far West United rode on the fifties from skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi and his fellow opener Binod Bhandari to post a big total of 187 for 5. The fifty was Shahidi’s third in a row in the ongoing Nepal T20 League.
He and Bhandari led the foundation for the big total by adding 134 runs for the first wicket. The partnership came off just 90 balls. The partnership came to an end when Shahidi was run out for 67. His knock came off 51 balls and was studded with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Bhandari, on the other hand, remained on the crease till the 19th over and ensured that United post a good total. Before departing, he scored 59 off 47 balls. For the Avengers, Abhimanyu Mithun picked up 2 wickets for 32 runs.
