In-form New Zealand will be up against favourites India in the twelfth game of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The game is scheduled to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (March 2).
The Black Caps have shown their title credentials by delivering two impressive performances. In the first game of the tournament, the Mitchell Santner-led side beat hosts and defending champions Pakistan by 60 runs. In their second group game, they thrashed Bangladesh by 5 wickets.
With a place in the semifinal already booked, New Zealand will be using the game against India to further fine-tune their preparations for the knockouts. So, as New Zealand eye another win in the Champions Trophy, we are taking a look at the New Zealand Playing 11 for the IND vs NZ game.
New Zealand Playing 11 vs India- ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Match 12:
Openers: Will Young, Devon Conway
Will Young and Devon Conway are expected to be the two openers in the New Zealand Playing 11. However, with both Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra likely to be available for the game against India, it won't be surprising if the latter is promoted to open the innings.
In that case, Young is likely to make way for Ravindra in the New Zealand Playing 11. Young was out for a duck against Bangladesh and will be eyeing a big score against India if he is given a chance. On the other hand, Conway got the start but could not convert it into a big score and was out for 30 runs.
Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra/Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham (wk), Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (c)
Even though New Zealand won their first two games convincingly, they could decide to make one change to their middle-order. Daryl Mitchell missed the game against Bangladesh due to an illness and is expected to return to the New Zealand Playing 11.
However, with his replacement Rachin Ravindra scoring a century against Bangladesh, it is highly unlikely that the southpaw will be dropped from the New Zealand Playing 11.
New Zealand could decide to promote Ravindra to the top of the batting order and drop Will Young who was out for a duck.
Kane Williamson got out for just 5 runs against Bangladesh and will be eyeing a better display against India. He will be keen to regain his best form ahead of the semifinals.
Tom Latham continued his strong start to the tournament by playing yet another impressive knock. After scoring a century against Pakistan, the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 55 runs against Bangladesh. Glenn Phillips, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 21.
Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner are set to be the two all-rounders in the New Zealand Playing 11. Bracewell had a brilliant outing with the ball in the last game as he picked up 4 wickets and was adjudged the Player of the Match. On the other hand, Santner conceded 44 runs in his 10 overs and failed to pick up any wicket.
Bowlers: Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, William O'Rourke
With Bracewell and Santner set to be the two spinners, the Black Caps are likely to have three frontline pacers in their playing 11.
Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson and William O'Rourke are set to be the three bowlers in the New Zealand Playing 11. ORourke picked up 2 wickets against Bangladesh while Jamieson and Henry claimed one wicket each.
