Greg Barclay was unanimously re-elected by the International Cricket Council Cricbuzz reported on Friday that Greg Barclay was re-elected unopposed as chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) (November 11).
Dr. Tavengwa Mukuhlani, the chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), withdrew from the contest during an ICC board meeting in Melbourne on Saturday. Barclay, a former New Zealand Cricket (NZC) president, will now serve his second term for another two years.

There were two candidates and the incumbent was widely favored to win the race on election day. Barclay had the support of more than a dozen directors in the 17-member Board, including the backing of the all-powerful Board of Control for Cricket in India, with just a simple majority required to be declared elected (BCCI). Jay Shah, the BCCI’s secretary, has been a representative.

In the ICC, it is generally believed that Mukuhlani’s participation in the race was more symbolic than serious. He would have been representing the smaller full members of the Elite ICC board, which is largely lopsided with Ireland, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka on one end and South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, the West Indies, and Bangladesh on the other, with the BCCI, ECB, and CA, the super wealthy boards, in the middle.
“I would like to thank my fellow ICC Directors for their support”: Greg Barclay
On his re-appointment In a formal statement, Greg Barclay stated:
“It is an honor to be re-elected as the Chair of the International Cricket Council and I would like to thank my fellow ICC Directors for their support.”
“Over the last two years, we have made significant strides forward with the launch of our global growth strategy that provides clear direction to build a successful and sustainable future for our sport” Greg Barclay Added.

“It is an exciting time to be involved in cricket and I look forward to continuing to work closely with our Members to strengthen the game in our core markets as well as grow it beyond that, ensuring more of the world can enjoy cricket,” he added.
He was previously the Chair of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and was a director of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2015.
