Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Nicholas Pooran took a subtle jab at his own franchise while praising Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for their miraculous turnaround in the IPL 2024.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Pooran hailed RCB's resilience in the tournament. The RCB were languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table after winning only one game from their eight outings in the tournament.

However, RCB put themselves up and showed the power of belief and determination by winning back-to-back six matches in the lucrative T20 league. Virat Kohli was the main architect behind RCB’s revival in the IPL 2024, leading the beating line-up from the front, and then collective efforts from the bowlers helped the franchise to stage a historic resurgence in the league.

After winning six matches in a row following early setbacks in the tournament, RCB qualified for the IPL 2024 Playoffs to leave one and all in awe for the team, as they won hearts by playing for pride and showcasing their talent when everyone was just trolling the team for being chokers in the tournament.

However, RCB could not maintain their winning streak in the IPL 2024 Playoffs, suffering a heartbreaking defeat in the eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22.

After RCB’s four-wicket loss to RR in Ahmedabad, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star Nicholas Pooran shared a picture from the Bengaluru team’s social media handle on his Instagram story to pay tribute to the team for showing belief and grit in tough situations and making it to the playoffs to prove everyone wrong.

Sharing the RCB’s appreciation post, Pooran wrote on his Instagram story: “Thank you, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, for showing us what a little belief can do.”

Meanwhile, LSG had a mixed campaign in the IPL 2024, as they missed out on the playoffs due to their inconsistency. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, LSG finished seventh in the standings with seven wins from 14 matches. LSG’s inconsistent performance, especially in crucial moments, prevented them from qualifying for the final phase of the league.

LSG's journey was marred by the inconsistent form of their several players, including the captain KL Rahul himself, Ravi Bishnoi, Quinton de Kock, and Marcus Stoinis, along with the injuries to their key players like Mayank Yadav. They failed to maintain momentum throughout the tournament, despite having had a great start to the season.

Despite having the same points as the Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, LSG's net run rate led to their exclusion from the playoffs. It is being said that Rahul can leave the franchise after the team owner Sanjiv Goenka lashed him out in public this season.

On the other hand, Pooran had a quite commendable season with the LSG. The hard-hitting batter from the West Indies amassed 499 runs at an impressive average of 62 and a strike rate of 178 in 15 matches for the Lucknow team in the IPL 2024. He smashed three fifties this season.
