Young Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy recently revealed modern-day great Virat Kohli as his cricketing idol and explained the reason behind this. Nitish Kumar Reddy overlooked Indian superstars like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma while naming his cricketing idol.
Nitish Reddy earned his first call-up to the Indian Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 against Australia. Reddy is the only seam-bowling all-rounder in India's 18-member squad for the series. The first Test of the five-match series is set to begin in Perth on November 22.
My Cricketing Idol is Virat Kohli Since Childhood - Nitish Kumar Reddy
In a conversation with RevSportz, Nitish Kumar Reddy said that his cricketing idol is Virat Kohli. Reddy said that he was influenced by Kohli’s gameplay, attitude, and impact on Indian cricket. The young cricketer also stated that he has followed Kohli since childhood.
"My idol, like, the cricketing idol is Virat bhai (Virat Kohli). Since childhood, I have watched him and I played my cricket based on his style. When I started playing cricket, I watched him and I admired his gameplay and his attitude. The way he changed Indian cricket. I like everything about him; I like him a lot. My favourite club is where Ronaldo plays. I follow Cristiano," Nitish Kumar told RevSportz.
Reddy has scored 779 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 21.05 from 39 innings. However, he has taken 56 wickets at a decent average of 26.98 in 23 games.
Nitish Kumar Last Seen in Action During Two Unofficial Test Matches
Nitish Kumar was last seen in action during the two unofficial Test matches between India A and Australia A. The right-handed batter scored 17 runs and took 1 wicket during the first match against Australia A. He scored 16 and 38 runs across two innings but did not take any wickets in the second match.
The 21-year-old made his Team India debut during the home T20I series against Bangladesh. He scored 90 runs in three innings at an average of 45.0 and a strike rate of 180.0. His best performance was 74 runs from 34 balls during the second match. He picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 7.89.

Nitish Kumar said that discipline has been a part of his life since childhood, like his idols Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo. He added that Ronaldo is his all-time favorite and a major motivator, with the footballer's speeches and videos providing instant boosts.
"Yeah, you know, like my idols are Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo. I admire them a lot. Cristiano is my all-time favorite. Like, he is my motivator in a way. Whenever I see him or whenever I see his reels or videos, whenever I listen to his speeches, everything kind of boosts me instantly," Nitish Kumar added.
