Nitish Rana has registered himself for the IPL 2025 mega auction at the base price of INR 1.5 crore. The southpaw has played for two teams in the IPL so far - Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.
He made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians in 2016. In his debut season, Rana scored 104 runs in 4 games with the help of a fifty. He enjoyed his breakthrough season in the IPL in 2017, scoring 333 runs with the help of 3 half-centuries in 13 games.
Ahead of the 2018 season, he was signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders and has been playing for them since then. In 2018, Nitish played 15 games and scored 304 runs with the help of 1 fifty. He picked up 4 wickets as well. In the next four seasons, Nitish Rana scored more than 300 runs in each season.
He enjoyed his best season with the bat in the IPL in 2023. Leading the team in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Rana scored 413 runs with the help of three fifties. In IPL 2024, he could play only 2 games due to an injury.

Rajasthan Royals have secured the services of Nitish Rana ahead of IPL 2025. The first-ever IPL champions signed the batsman for INR 4.20 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Chennai Super Kings made the first bid before pulling out of the race once the price went past the 2-crore mark. In the end, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals started bidding before the latter outbid the former.
