Nitish Rana reveals how Gautam Gambhir had predicted KKR's IPL 2024 win the day he rejoined the franchise

Nitish Rana shared Gautam Gambhir’s special message to him before the start of IPL 2024. Just after Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 crown by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final, Nitish Rana said Gautam Gambhir told him that he would be only happy if KKR won the trophy.

Under Gautam Gambhir's guidance, KKR won the IPL 2024 title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final by 8 wickets. It was a one-sided victory, where Kolkata Knight Riders crushed SRH by 8 wickets. During the post-match press conference, Nitish Rana revealed a special message that Gautam Gambhir shared with him.

Rana called Gautam Gambhir to congratulate him for taking the post of KKR mentor and said they are happy that he is coming back to KKR. To this, the KKR mentor replied that he would be happy only after they lifted the trophy on the podium.

“When GG bhai was appointed as the mentor I had messaged him and said I am very happy he's coming back to KKR, but he said that he would be happy if we are on that podium lifting the trophy. Today is that day and I will never forget that message, he said.

Talking about the match, KKR showed stunning efforts to downplay SRH in the game. Bowling first, Kolkata dismissed SRH for just 113 with 2 wickets each by Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana.

Andre Russell also picked up 3 wickets. Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakravarthy got 1 wicket each as KKR showed wonderful teamwork.

KKR crushed SRH by 8 wickets

Later, the victory was just a piece of cake for KKR with a target of 114-2 on the scoreboard. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer scored 39 and 52 respectively to grab the victory from the hands of SRH bowlers.

SRH started well by getting the wicket of Sunil Narine, who had been an amazing batter in IPL 2024. They also got Rahmanullah Gurbaz towards the end, however, KKR had already crossed 100 runs on the board by that time.

Mitchell Starc got the man of the match award for his 2 wickets in 3 overs in the final. He grabbed the crucial wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi. Sunil Narine clinched the Player of the Series award. He gave a marvelous start to the side in many games and helped the team to get the title.
