"No conclusive evidence": Rohit Sharma slams umpire over Rishabh Pant's controversial LBW dismissal

India National Cricket skipper Rohit Sharma talked about Rishabh Pant's controversial dismissal in the second innings of the third Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. He said that there wasn't conclusive evidence, so the umpire shouldn't have overturned the decision.
Rishabh Pant's dismissal in the second innings turned out to be a deciding factor for the India National Cricket Team, as they went on to lose the game by 25 runs. This means that they also went on to lose the series by the margin of 3-0 and lose important World Test Championship points.
Rishabh Pant looked unfazed by the wickets falling at the other end
In the chase of 147 runs, while every Indian batter struggled to get going, Rishabh Pant was keeping the India National Cricket Team in the hunt. The keeper-batter played a vital innings and played the counter-attacking innings while wickets kept falling at the other end.
Pant, who scored 64 runs, looked unfazed by the wickets falling at the other end and with the way he was batting, it seemed that he would take India home. But that wasn't meant to be as he bagged a controversial dismissal that changed the entire complexion of the game.
Ajaz Patel bowled a delivery that was turning into which Rishabh Pant danced down the pitch and wasn't anywhere close to the pitch of the ball. The ball popped up off the pad before going into the keeper's gloves. New Zealand skipper Tom Latham went for the DRS.

The ultraedge showed a a murmur when the ball was close to the bat. But at the same time, the bat hit the pad as well. Rishabh Pant, however, didn't want to leave as he was pretty confident that he hadn't hit the ball. But the third umpire overturned Richard Illingworth's call.
While talking about the dismissal of Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma said that it was an unfortunate dismissal. He admitted that when the keeper-batter was batting, they had the belief that the left-hander would take see them through. Speaking to reporters, he explained:
"Honestly, I don't know. If we say something, it isn't accepted well. If there is no conclusive evidence, the decision has to stand with that of on-field umpire. That's what I've been told. I don't know how the decision was overturned. The bat was clearly close to the pad,” Rohit Sharma told in the post-match press conference.
“I don't know if it's the right thing for me to talk about. It is something for the umpires to think about. Have the same rules for every team, don't keep changing your mind. That dismissal was very crucial from our point of view. Rishabh was looking really good and it felt that he would take us through. But it was an unfortunate dismissal, and we were bowled out right after.”

India batters looked terrible against spin in the entire series. Seniors batter in Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and others failed to score and it potentially was the main reason why the team faced the whitewash at the hands of New Zealand.
Rohit Sharma admitted that senior players not scoring runs is a concern. But he believes that it will be a great opportunity for them to do something special in Australia. He added:
"It is a concern when seniors aren't scoring runs. But what's done is done. We have an opportunity to do something special in Australia. We'll focus on that now."
India Test will be next seen in action when they will take on Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, starting 22nd November.
