With the ICC World Cup 2023 less than a week away, former India batsman Gautam Gambhir has picked three players who can be game-changers for Team India. The highly-anticipated ODI World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 5 to November 19.

Reigning champions England will lock horns against New Zealand in the tournament opener on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India, on the other hand, will open their campaign on October 5 by taking on five-time ODI World Cup winners Australia in Chennai.

The Men in Blue are one of the firm favourites to win the tournament this year. Currently the number one ranked team in the world, India have proved their title credentials by winning the Asia Cup and beating Australia in a three-match ODI series earlier this year.

With most of India’s key players fit and the tournament taking place at home, the Rohit Sharma-led side will definitely be the team to beat in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Gautam Gambhir’s game-changers:

While cricket is a team game, teams definitely need a few players who have the ability to change the course of a match in no time. Match-winners are a must for any team in a competition like the World Cup. And Gautam Gambhir has picked the players who he thinks can be game-changers for Team India.

In a recent event hosted by veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle, Gautam Gambhir picked captain Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah as India’s game-changers.

“Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Mohammad Siraj. Rohit Sharma isliye bhi kyuki wickets aapko aisi milne waali hai, jaha apko bahut achi batting wickets milegi aur Rohit Sharma jis tarike ki form mein hai, I am sure kaafi runs karenge (Rohit Sharma also because you are going to get such wickets, where you will get very good batting wickets and the kind of form Rohit Sharma is in, I am sure he will score a lot of runs),” Gautam Gambhir said.

Rohit Sharma has been in good form in recent times. In his last 5 ODI innings, the right-handed batsman has hit four half-centuries including a 57-ball 81-run knock against Australia in his last ODI.

On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj recently starred with the ball in the Asia Cup final, taking 6 for just 21 against Sri Lanka while Bumrah has looked really sharp since returning to action.
