Former Kolkata Knight Riders batter Aakash Chopra went on to pick the top 5 Indian stars in the IPL who are considered the finest players of white-ball spin bowling. He ignored the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the top two run-scorers in the history of the IPL.

The IPL has been played across several venues in the Indian subcontinent. The venues offer a promising amount of spin and grip for the tricksters. With the variable amount of spin offered by these tracks, spinners have also played a major role in this season of the IPL.

Ravi Bishnoi currently leads the IPL Purple Cap leaderboard, while the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Sunil Narine, and many such spinners have picked up many wickets. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has picked some batters who are considered the best batters against spin bowling.

Aakash Chopra shockingly ignores big names from the list of best IPL batters against spin bowling

The IPL has always been filled with players who can counter spin bowling to the core. Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra has now picked the top five Indian batters against spin bowling. India has produced many such legendary batters.

However, Chopra shocked all as he did not include two of India's all-time legendary white-ball batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, on his list. Rohit Sharma is the second-highest run-getter in the IPL and has amassed 7164 runs in 275 IPL appearances. He is just the second batter to have breached the 7000-run mark.

Chopra also did not pick Virat Kohli, who has amassed 8790 runs in the IPL, playing in a long career of 270 games for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

MI and RCB batters were also picked by Aakash Chopra in the elite list of cricketers

At the No. 5 spot, Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma has been picked up as one of the best batters against spin bowling. However, the southpaw's recent struggles against off-spin have been ignored as he boasts a stunning T20 record against spinners.

Though the batter is off to a slow start in this edition of the IPL, he has averaged 42 while striking at 184.60. He backs down and rockets through the leg side as he tackles spinners to the best of his ability.

Two players from the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru teams have been picked for the list. Suryakumar Yadav has this uncanny ability to maneuver spinners at will, while Rajat Patidar, the RCB skipper, also impresses with a massive average of 45 and a strike rate of over 168 against spinners.

The RCB skipper has been seen in some promising touch this season of the IPL, while the batter has batted with a strike rate of 255 in two matches, where he has averaged over 79, and has dominated spinners with ease.

Shreyas Iyer picked as the best batter against spin

Aakash Chopra's last two options on the list of Indian batters include the IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer at the top spot. The PBKS batter has had an excellent record against spinners, as the right-hander has mastered the art of dispatching spinners from the front as well as the back foot.

Thanks to his stunning footwork, he has averaged over 43 and has struck at nearly 140 against spinners in his entire T20 career. Chopra picked the tall CSK all-rounder who has the reputation of smacking spinners out of the park as the second name on his list.

It's Shivam Dube, whose form against spinners and his strike rate make him one of the finest with a devastating ability to take down spinners with ease.
